Arrive, and prepare for a day of practical and hands-on learning.

Welcome + What Exceeding REALLY Means
A warm welcome from you.
Set the tone: simple, achievable, empowering.
Content includes:
  • The purpose of Exceeding
  • What assessors actually look for
  • What “embedded”, “informed”, and “consistent” look like
  • Why Exceeding is not about perfection, but patterns over time

9:30 – 10:30am
The Three Exceeding Themes Made Simple
Deep dive, further developing your understanding of the Three Exceeding Themes
  • Embedded Practice: What it looks like in daily rhythms
  • Practice Informed by Critical Reflection: How to capture it authentically
  • Practice Shaped by Meaningful Engagement with Families and Community: Actions to implement immediately
Practical tools:
  • Quick reflection prompts
  • Examples of visible evidence
  • Ways to document without overwork

10:45 – 12:15pm
Exceeding Across the Seven Quality Areas
This is the powerhouse session.
For each QA, you will learn:
  • What Exceeding looks like (practical examples)
  • The three themes applied
  • What assessors commonly note
  • How to show this in a natural way
  • “Less is more” documentation ideas
  • Further development for:
  • QA1: Curriculum, voice, decision-making
  • QA2: Wellbeing, safety, risk, children’s agency
  • QA3: Environments, sustainability, safety practices
  • QA4: Roles, communication, leadership
  • QA5: Relationships, interactions, belonging
  • QA6: Families, community, partnerships
  • QA7: Leadership, QIP, continuous improvement

Practical Implementation Workshop
Learn and implement practical Exceeding skills for evidence
Includes:
  • Turning current practice into “Exceeding evidence”
  • What to say during Assessment & Rating
  • How to prepare your team 
  • How to align documentation, practice, and outcomes
  • Play-based learning as evidence of exceeding practice
  • The best ways to show children’s voices, decisions, and agency
Scenarios include:
  • An Educator scenario activity
  • A curriculum reflection activity
  • A documentation simplification activity
Participants walk away with:
  • Three new routines they can implement immediately
  • A service-wide Exceeding action plan
  • A clearer understanding of expectations for each role

Culture is what assessors feel when they walk in. You will learn how to embed an Exceeding Culture within your Early Learning Centre and Classrooms

  • Making documentation feel light and meaningful
  • Keeping families engaged
  • Embedding community connections over time
