Overview:
Guiding children’s behaviour is one of the most meaningful—and often most challenging—parts of being an early childhood educator. This two-day, live online professional development experience is designed to empower educators with deeper insight, confidence, and clarity as they support the diverse emotional and behavioural needs of young children.
Led by the compassionate and highly experienced Kelly Hallas, through a developmental psychology, early childhood, and mental health lens, this course isn’t just about managing behaviour—it’s about understanding the "why" behind it, and learning how to guide with empathy, intention, and relationship at the core.
You'll explore the theories that shape behaviour (like attachment and Erikson’s developmental stages), gain tools to respond to difficult moments (like biting, swearing, or emotional outbursts), and discover how environment, sensory needs, and trauma all influence a child’s ability to regulate.
Educators will leave with a fresh perspective on their vital role—not just as supervisors, but as emotion coaches, environment designers, and trusted partners for families navigating early childhood.
What Early Childhood Educators Will Learn:
Theories that guide behaviour (Attachment, Erikson, Zones of Regulation, Social Psychology)
Understanding and responding to behaviours like biting, kicking, escaping
Partnering with families and building shared behavioural support strategies
