Reflect, Reset, and Rise – Working Collaboratively as a Team
Educators actively engage in professional development while linking reflection, teamwork, and children’s development.

Overview:
In this session, educators will learn how to use reflection, goal setting, and teamwork to strengthen their practice and enhance children’s learning. You will explore strategies for setting intentional goals for yourself, your team, and the children, understand how collaborative practice improves outcomes, and discover ways to link your professional growth to children’s holistic development across social-emotional, cognitive, physical, language, and creative domains — all grounded in the EYLF Practices and NQS Quality Areas.

Module 1 – Reflect: Learning from Practice
Learning Objectives:
  • Understand reflection as a tool for professional growth.
  • Recognise how reflection enhances children’s learning experiences.
  • Identify personal strengths and areas for improvement.
Key Teaching Points:
  • Reflection transforms experience into meaningful learning.
  • Wellbeing and self-awareness influence responsiveness to children.
  • Links to EYLF Practices: Holistic approaches, Intentional teaching, Assessment for learning.
Participant Activities:
  • Think of a professional moment from last year that shaped your practice.
  • Pair-share: “What did you learn and how will it influence your teaching?”
  • Group discussion: How reflection impacts children and team collaboration.

Module 2 – Reset: Setting Intentional Goals
Learning Objectives:
  • Learn to set SMART goals: personal, team, and children-focused.
  • Connect goals to EYLF and NQS frameworks.
  • Understand how intentional goals improve team and child outcomes.
Key Teaching Points:
  • Goals guide focus, action, and measurable outcomes.
  • Personal goals, team goals, and children’s development goals are interconnected.
Participant Activities:
  • “Seeds of Change” exercise: Write 3 goals (personal, team, children-focused).
  • Group discussion: How these goals contribute to children’s learning and team success.

Module 3 – Rise: Working Collaboratively to Support Children’s Development
Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the impact of teamwork on children’s holistic development.
  • Learn strategies for effective collaboration and shared decision-making.
  • Apply reflective practice and goal-setting to support children’s learning.
Key Teaching Points:
  • Strong teams create consistent, intentional, and responsive learning environments.
  • Teamwork supports children’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, language, and creative development.
  • Connects to EYLF Learning Outcomes 1–5 and NQS QA1 & QA4.
Participant Activities:
  • “Web of Connection”: Identify individual team strengths and how they enhance practice.
  • Case study analysis: Small groups plan actions to support a child using reflection, teamwork, and intentional teaching.
  • Reflection into Action: Complete a page outlining next steps to implement learning in practice.

Closing & Reflection
  • Discuss key takeaways: How will you implement reflection, goal-setting, and collaboration this year?
  • Document goals and insights for follow-up in QIP and team meetings.
