THRIVE in Nature™
Nurturing Educators and Children through Nature-Based Learning
Duration: 2 hours (online)
For: Early Childhood Educators (working with children aged 0–12)
Aligned with: EYLF (V2.0) + NQF

Course Overview
THRIVE in Nature™ is a nature-based professional learning experience designed to nurture both educator well-being and children's learning outcomes. Grounded in the THRIVE framework, this course offers practical tools, mindful reflections, and curriculum-aligned strategies to embed nature-connected practices across early childhood settings.
Whether you're in a bush kindy, a suburban service, or a family daycare, this course will empower you to slow down, reflect deeply, and reimagine your role — as both educator and nurturer — through the healing power of nature.

Learning Objectives 
By the end of this course, educators will:
  • Understand the THRIVE in Nature™ framework and how it aligns with the EYLF and NQF.
  • Apply mindfulness, reflective practice, and intentional planning through a nature lens.
  • Strengthen educator and child well-being by integrating nature-rich experiences into daily practice.
  • Build professional confidence and resilience through strengths-based and growth-focused strategies.

Course Modules & Content Breakdown
 Module 1: Introduction to THRIVE in Nature™
Objective: Understand the foundation and structure of the THRIVE framework.
Content:
  • Overview of THRIVE pillars:
    • TUNE IN
    • HARNESS STRENGTHS
    • RESTORE & REFLECT
    • INTEGRATE WITH INTENTION
    • VENTURE FORWARD
    • EMBODY
  • Quick refresher on EYLF V2.0 and NQF alignment.
  • Why educator well-being matters just as much as children's learning.

 Module 2: TUNE IN — Mindfulness and Presence
Objective: Cultivate mindfulness to enhance emotional responsiveness.
Content:
  • Quick mindfulness techniques for educators (e.g., "grounding walks", breath anchors).
  • Mindful nature invitations for children (e.g., sound maps, cloud gazing).
  • Aligns with EYLF Outcome 3: Strong sense of well-being.

Module 3: HARNESS STRENGTHS — Building Resilience
Objective: Identify and amplify personal and child strengths.
Content:
  • Strengths spotting in nature: noticing what thrives.
  • Tools for reflecting on and celebrating strengths in the learning environment.
  • Connects with EYLF Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators.

 Module 4: RESTORE & REFLECT — Emotional Regulation + Self-Care
Objective: Prevent burnout and support self-regulation through nature.
Content:
  • Quick self-regulation tools using the outdoors (e.g., "leaf letting go", barefoot resets).
  • Reflective journaling prompts for emotional awareness.
  • Links to EYLF Outcome 2: Connection to world and community.

Module 5: INTEGRATE WITH INTENTION — Planning with Purpose
Objective: Embed intentionality into planning and practice.
Content:
  • Nature-based inquiry planning for ages 0–12.
  • How to link daily rituals (e.g., transitions, mealtimes) with nature principles.
  • Anchored in EYLF Principles: Holistic approaches, responsiveness to children.

 Module 6: VENTURE FORWARD — Growth Mindset in Action
Objective: Embrace challenge, risk, and outdoor discovery.
Content:
  • Nature-based provocations that support risk-taking and problem-solving.
  • Encouraging resilience through outdoor tasks and reflection.
  • Links to EYLF Outcome 4: Children as confident and involved learners.

 Module 7: EMBODY — Living the Learning
Objective: Fully embed nature-based practices into your philosophy.
Content:
  • Designing a nature-rich space: small shifts, big impact.
  • Daily rhythms that honour nature: storytelling, nature notes, seasonal shifts.
  • Reflecting on your journey: educator well-being as a living practice.
