Overview
This practical and engaging course supports educators to transform transitions and group times into meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, and emotional regulation. Participants will explore how intentional routines, responsive interactions, and engaging group experiences can reduce stress, promote positive behaviour, and create calm, inclusive environments where every child feels safe, confident, and ready to learn.
What Educators Will Learn
MODULES
Module 1: Understanding Transitions & Group Times
Educators will explore why transitions and group experiences can be both exciting and challenging for young children. This module examines children's brain development, emotional regulation, attention spans, and the importance of predictable routines.
Topics include:
Module 2: Creating Calm, Predictable Transitions
This module focuses on practical strategies that help children move confidently between activities while reducing stress and uncertainty. Educators will learn how thoughtful planning and consistency support emotional safety and independence.
Topics include:
Module 3: Meaningful & Engaging Group Times
Educators will explore how to design group experiences that are interactive, inclusive, and responsive to children's interests and developmental needs. Rather than expecting children to simply sit and listen, participants will discover ways to encourage active participation and joyful learning.

Module 4: Building Calm Through Relationships & Intentional Practice
The final module brings together the principles of emotional regulation, connection, and intentional teaching to create positive daily experiences for children and educators alike.

- Creating a predictable rhythm throughout the day
Module 2: Creating Calm, Predictable Transitions
This module focuses on practical strategies that help children move confidently between activities while reducing stress and uncertainty. Educators will learn how thoughtful planning and consistency support emotional safety and independence.
Topics include:
- Transition planning and preparation
- Visual schedules and environmental cues
- Songs, music, movement, and transition rituals
- Supporting children through separation and change
- Reducing waiting times and keeping children engaged
Module 3: Meaningful & Engaging Group Times
Educators will explore how to design group experiences that are interactive, inclusive, and responsive to children's interests and developmental needs. Rather than expecting children to simply sit and listen, participants will discover ways to encourage active participation and joyful learning.
Topics include:
- Planning purposeful group experiences
- Storytelling, music, movement, and discussion
- Encouraging children's voice and participation
- Adapting group times for different ages and abilities
- Knowing when to shorten, extend, or modify group experiences
Module 4: Building Calm Through Relationships & Intentional Practice
The final module brings together the principles of emotional regulation, connection, and intentional teaching to create positive daily experiences for children and educators alike.

- Using calm, respectful communication
- Supporting positive behaviour through connection
- Creating emotionally safe and responsive environments
