Wednesday Wine & Wellness xo

​Certainly! Here’s the updated Wine and Wellness for Early Childhood Educators (2-hour online session) with the requested additions on The Power of Positivity, including the 10 Factors to Implement, and the connection between nature and well-being within the mindfulness portion.

Wine and Wellness for Early Childhood Educators (2-hour Online Session)Objective:
This session is designed to help Early Childhood Educators unwind, reflect, and incorporate wellness strategies into their everyday routines. The session will focus on mindfulness practices, meditation, self-care activities, and goal-setting to support their well-being and prevent burnout.

2 Hours

Conducted via Zoom, Google Meet, or another preferred online platform.

Session Breakdown
  1. Welcome & Introduction (10 minutes)
    • Introduction: Brief introduction explaining the session’s focus on wellness for Early Childhood Educators and the importance of self-care, mindfulness, and positivity.
    • Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite beverage (wine or non-alcoholic option) and find a comfortable space to engage in the session.
    • Icebreaker Activity: Each participant shares one thing they love about their role as an educator and one self-care practice they already do (or wish to do more often).
  2. Mindfulness & Relaxation Practice (25 minutes)
    • Guided Mindfulness Meditation (10 minutes): A simple mindfulness practice to help participants center themselves, release stress, and focus on the present moment.
      • Focus on breathing techniques (deep belly breathing) to reduce stress and calm the mind.
    • The Power of Positivity (15 minutes):
      • The Importance of the Power of Positivity: Discuss the significance of maintaining a positive mindset and how it impacts mental well-being, stress levels, and emotional resilience.
      • The Power of Positivity – 10 Factors to Implement: A guided discussion on 10 key factors to cultivate positivity in life:
        1. Gratitude Practice – Cultivating gratitude to shift focus from negative to positive aspects of life.
        2. Positive Affirmations – Repeating affirmations to boost self-esteem and mental clarity.
        3. Self-Compassion – Being kind to oneself and practicing self-love, especially during tough times.
        4. Mindful Presence – Practicing mindfulness and staying present to reduce worry about the past or future.
        5. Reframing Negative Thoughts – Learning to identify negative thoughts and consciously reframing them in a more positive light.
        6. Visualization – Using visualization techniques to imagine positive outcomes and goals.
        7. Celebrating Small Wins – Recognizing and celebrating everyday successes, no matter how small.
        8. Positive Social Connections – Building relationships with uplifting, supportive people.
        9. Forgiveness – Letting go of resentment and offering forgiveness to oneself and others.
      1. Humor and Laughter – Finding joy and humor in life to relieve stress and enhance mood.
    • Nature and Well-Being:
      • Connection to Nature: Discuss the profound impact nature has on well-being, reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
      • Tips on incorporating nature walks, time outdoors, or simply bringing nature into the classroom or home (e.g., house plants or nature-themed activities).
      • Scientific findings about how spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function.
  3. Self-Care Activities to Implement (30 minutes)
    • Self-care Techniques for Educators:
      • Stretching Routine (5-10 minutes): Simple stretches that can be done during breaks, focusing on releasing tension in the shoulders, neck, and back.
      • Mindful Movement: Gentle yoga stretches or walking mindfulness exercises that can be done during breaks to help stay grounded and present.
      • Journaling for Self-Care (5-10 minutes): Introduce reflective journaling as a way to process thoughts, track emotions, and express gratitude. Use prompts like "What made me feel fulfilled today?" or "What can I do to nurture myself?"
      • Visualization Exercise (5 minutes): Participants practice visualizing a calm and peaceful moment, such as being at the beach or in a quiet garden.
  4. Goal Setting for Personal & Professional Growth (30 minutes)
    • Personal Wellness Goals:
      • Encourage participants to create personal wellness goals, focusing on areas like self-care, mindfulness, and work-life balance.
      • Help educators break goals into small, achievable steps that can be integrated into their daily routines.
    • Professional Goals:
      • Discuss how to set realistic professional goals for growth in their role, such as improving work relationships, taking professional development courses, or implementing wellness activities in the classroom.
    • Goal-Setting Activity: Participants will fill out a goal-setting worksheet, focusing on specific wellness goals and actionable steps. They will also identify obstacles they may face and ways to overcome them.
  5. Wellness Tools and Techniques for Educators (20 minutes)
    • Time Management for Self-Care:
      • Discuss time-blocking strategies to ensure there’s space for self-care during the workday.
      • Scheduling mindfulness breaks and self-care moments throughout the day, such as a few minutes of deep breathing or a short walk during lunch.
    • Affirmations for Educators: Introduce positive affirmations and how repeating them can help with maintaining a positive mindset and resilience during challenging times.
      • Example affirmations: “I am capable and strong,” “I am making a positive difference,” “I prioritize my well-being for my own growth and my students’ success.”
    • Incorporating Mindfulness in the Classroom: Discuss how educators can incorporate mindfulness into their classroom routines, such as doing a short breathing exercise with children or setting up a calming space.
  6. Closing & Reflection (15 minutes)
    • Reflection: Participants reflect on the goals they’ve set during the session and how they plan to apply the wellness activities in their daily lives.
    • Sharing Time: Participants are invited to share one goal they’ve set and one self-care activity they plan to implement.
    • Final Meditation (5 minutes): A closing meditation focusing on self-compassion, where educators remind themselves that taking care of their well-being is essential for doing their best work.
    • Final words of encouragement, reminding participants that self-care is essential for their personal and professional growth.

End of Session:
  • Follow-up Resources: Participants will receive a digital handout that includes:
    • A self-care checklist with activities and practices to help manage stress.
    • Goal-setting worksheet to help set personal and professional wellness goals.
    • Mindfulness and meditation resources: Links to apps or websites for guided meditations, breathing exercises, and wellness practices.
  • Optional Digital Gift: A free trial for a mindfulness or meditation app (e.g., Headspace, Calm, Insight Timer) to encourage ongoing wellness practices.
